Circe was an enchantress. She changed Odysseus's men into swine ,on his way home from the Trojan War.Her charms though supernatural ,had no effect on him(he was under the protection of Athena). Here we have a voyeurs view on her world as she casts a spell in a cave by the shore. The changlings look on unable to defend against her spells.
I've used photoshop and muted the tones and affected edgework so as to simulate oil painting in a style reminiscent of the turn of the century. All the animals are from photos of my metal sculptures...

I've used photoshop exclusively but with many plugins ,flaming pear is high on my list of "provocative"tools. The rocks are a blowup of collected stones in a heep on my deck...The doorway is a mirror frame on a decorative arts piece I made.

I've imported the breasts from another of my models with the clone stamp tool in photoshop as well as applied liquify to fatten lips ,enlarge eyes and embellish cleavage. The aetherize element from flaming pear helped in this case to mute the tones to give an oil painted turn- of- the- century look to the piece. My model Jessica has incredibly animtaed hair and I simply caught it on film as the wind lifted a strand on the left side. i'm sure i must have used an edge treatment program as well...

There are more horses than people in my neighborhood ,ao that was easy to shoot. I've used a film shot of the model and blended with photoshop to accomplish the centaur, did brush stroke-accented edges tweaking along with aetherize in the multiply mode. This accomplishes two things ;it deepens all colors and hides many little feathering anomalies. Further use of artistic plugins like dry brush and poster edges enhanced the graphic texture I was looking for.

I love theAncient Greek Myths and could conceive of a whole book illustrating the many interesting personalities of both Gods and mortals. The illustrations and art techniques of winslow Homer,Howard Pyle, and N.C. Wyeth were big influences in my childhood. Perhaps one can see traces within this piece.

The sublimated eroticism of Victorian England and the continent poised an interesting counterpoint to the rich sumptuous textures and colors of their works. I have here attempted to compose my own Pre-Raphelite Style image. The model is shot on film ,then manipulated with photoshop ,using aetherize and brush stroke-accented edges.
